Similac High Energy
With its globally renowned Similac range of infant formulas, Abbott Nutrition has over 80 years experience of innovation in infant nutrition.
Similac High Energy is a high energy infant formula specifically designed to promote the growth and development of babies with, or at risk of, faltering growth (failure to thrive), as it offers:
- A concentrated source of energy and nutrients designed for catch-up growth
- Protein levels in line with the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations for catch up growth1
- The highest levels of long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs)*
- Galacto-oligosaccharides (e.g. an oligosaccharide, commonly known as “prebiotic”)
- The highest levels of nucleotides*
*compared to other high energy infant formulas
Indication:
Similac High Energy is a Food for Special Medical Purposes and should be used under medical supervision. It is available on prescription for babies with, or at risk of, faltering growth, which can result from an inadequate energy intake, or an inability to meet increased nutritional needs. It can also be useful for babies who are fluid restricted.
Similac High Energy is suitable for use as a sole source of nutrition for oral or tube feeding in infants up to 8kg in weight (or 18 months of age). For older infants, it can be fed from a cup or mixed with cereal and other solid foods.
If you think that your baby may benefit from a high energy infant formula, or for any other matters relating to feeding your baby, we would recommend that you seek advice from your healthcare professional e.g. GP, dietitian or health visitor.
